M. Cynthia Cheung

BEFORE WAKING UP

I jump, reckless,
off Mont Blanc. I fly through
overpass guardrails, float
for several lifetimes.
No one ever asked the hawk
how to strike a mirror.

SUPREMACY

I saw you in the news
again. I’m not sorry for the horses
galloping off monuments.

EDIT

My coffin is smaller
than I imagined. It contains
forty white sharks
thrashing through the dark.
